The Italian Pavilion’s Official Coffee

We are celebrating our first 120 years at Milan EXPO 2015, as the Italian Pavilion’s Official Coffee, bringing our long experience in the field of sustainability and innovation: with passion, ethics and attention to quality.

Here we are offering the public 100% sustainably grown iTierra! Intenso coffee and a selection of exclusive recipes created by the Lavazza Training Center.

The aroma of Lavazza coffee starts from the Piazzetta del Caffè, designed by the renowned architect Fabio Novembre, and spreads right through the Italian Pavilion: from the Martini Terrace to the Peck Restaurant, but also inside EXPO in the Coop Supermarket of the Future and in Eataly’s two “Caffè Bar Vino Libero” venues.

The square is the place to be at EXPO 2015.

Yes, the Piazzetta del Caffè, the coffee-themed square in the Italian Pavilion, is the place to experience a genuine Lavazza Coffee Experience. From here you can journey through Italy’s excellent regional delicacies, with exclusive recipes that allow visitors from all over the world to discover Italian flavour in a cup of coffee.

Located in the heart of the Italian Pavilion, in the South-West area along the Cardo street, the Piazzetta del Caffè highlights the social aspect of the coffee break: a moment for sharing that is the precursor of contemporary social networks, a break in which ideas and opinions have always been exchanged.

The Lavazza Sustainability Hub.

Throughout the EXPO 2015 period, Cascina Cuccagna in Milan will host Lavazza’s Sustainability Hub.

This is a project in which the first compostable capsule for Italian espresso coffee, produced with Novamont, is the tangible sign of a commitment to sustainability.
A project that has resulted in the creation in the Lavazza Sustainability Hub of an educational greenhouse, built according to bio-architecture principles. In addition, a study developed with Turin Polytechnic on the recycling of coffee grounds, meetings and teaching paths organised together with Novamont and the University of Pollenzo - Slow Food, will enable visitors to take a closer look at topics linked to sustainability and the product end of life.

The call-to-action to the Earth Defenders
signed by Steve McCurry.

From the paladin of argan oil in Morocco to the guardian of Lare pumpkins in Kenya, to the sentinel of coffee plantations in Ethiopia.

Steve McCurry’s spectacular images — which celebrate the Earth Defenders and are collected in the 2015 Lavazza Calendar, produced in collaboration with Slow Food — are the ideal icons for representing Lavazza’s activities during the months of EXPO 2015.

So Lavazza is inviting all visitors to the Universal Exposition to become Earth Defenders (#earthdefenders) and is hosting the exhibition entitled “From These Hands: a Journey Along the Coffee Trail” by Steve McCurry at Milan’s Museum of Science and Technology from 5 June to 5 July.
